I am a true Maverick at heart. As a High Schooler I spent my weekends getting rowdy with the crowds at athletic events and participating in club events. I know how to respect other teams but help create a fun thriving atmosphere that will keep the players confidence up as well as the determination to win. When I first came to my High School the fans were limited and the people who did come to enjoy the game had stiff faces the entire time. The energy the crowd gave off during a game could be mistaken as a funeral. I became a cheerleader to help promote school spirit and bring back life to the crowd and supporters of my high school. I soon found out that being a cheerleader was a joke to the school, we were mocked during the games and people disrespected my team and my coaches. Although my team was ignored and treated poorly I stood my ground and made it a point that we would not leave. A year and some later we had the crowd smiling and yelling for the players on the court and field. Being a Maverick takes confidence even when the crowd has their back to you. Its making a point to lead the crowd and to take a stand for the people that matter.
